eyes of the beholder

Eyes of the Beholder seeks to subvert traditional perceptions and expectations and in doing so asks if beauty is not a “quality in things themselves”, what constitutes the experience of, the reflection upon, and ultimate divining of this sensory compass?

WHAT THE HAND KNOWS

Metavision (2015) introduces this collection of experiential artworks as the only one privileging sight…

WHAT THE HAND KNOWS

(an invisible collection – impossible to illuminate)

Following is an attempt to show 4 experiential artworks which were my presentation pieces accompanying my Master of Fine Art thesis in 2015. The underlying premise of the thesis was whether it is possible to sense beauty without using the primary sense of sight, and in this case, solely by the sense of touch. Possibly it is becoming clear as to why perceiving these artworks that are not meant to be seen, but only felt by the hand, don’t really translate into pixels?

For anyone interested, I have included the abstract and the beginning of my thesis introduction as a further explanation of this collection of works. Beware, art wank follows…
